Mark Bartlett

Mark was born and raised in Fairbanks,
Alaska. As a boy, he explored the interior of Alaska by riverboat and
vehicle, while accompanying his father on hunting and
fishing expeditions. Mark was moved by the beauty and ruggedness of Alaska
at an early age. "I can't remember a time when I wasn't excited about
art". Mark has lived all but a few years of his life in Alaska and has seen
many changes in the state he calls home.
During his life, Mark has been
employed as a logger, commercial
fisherman, welder, fiberglass
repairman and as a social
worker. He is currently self-
employed as a full time artist.
At present, he resides in Sitka,
Alaska with his wife, teenage
daughter, and three young sons.
"My philosophy on painting is
simple" he says, "a good
painting should invoke feelings-
good feelings, I hope. Alaska
provides me with and unending
source of inspiration, awe
inspiring beauty that points to
an awesome creator." Psalms
19:1
His work is heavily influenced
by Alaskan artist Ernest
Robertson. |
